In 1951, Lloyd L. Antle, an Ohio University graduate and professor of Marketing at Georgia State College was eager to create an environment that could educate people interested in the marketing and selling fields. With the help of his colleges Dr. William Harris, Dr. Henry Baker, and Mr. Lewis F. Gordon, one of the founders of the Sales and Marketing Executives (SME) association of Atlanta, they created what is considered today the most dynamic and successful collegiate fraternity focusing on marketing, sales management, and selling.
After gaining support from other SME members, they were able to recruit students and other professionals and together they created what PSE foundation will forever be: the Statement of Purpose, Constitution and Bylaws, Creed, Key and Ritual of Initiation.
Greek letters were chosen to represent the diverse members of the Brotherhood. The fraternity consists of three categories:
- Prospective Sales Executives (collegiates)
- Preparers of Sales Executives (educators)
- Professional Sales Executives (professionals and alumni)
The Fraternity was incorporated in the state of Georgia on May 14, 1952, the first chapter being the Alpha chapter at Georgia State University.
